Main Street Grill - Walnut Creek, CA

The Main Street Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6:30am to 10:00pm and they also provide breakfast and lunch catering and delivery services. They are located inside the Marriott Hotel in downtown Walnut Creek. It is next to a Motel 6 and across the street from a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealer. FYI, they offer valet parking which the restaurant will validate if you dine there.

Service was excellent at Main Street Grill in Walnut Creek and this is what we ordered:

Side Caesar Salad (included) with anchovies - delicious!
Porcini Dusted Halibut ($25) with toasted orzo, baby spinach, caramelized sweet onions - very tasty!
Main St. Black Pepper Bacon Burger ($11) with Gorgonzola cheese - nice, thick bacon and a generous amount of Gorgonzola cheese, but the meat quality was average.

Stadium Pub ROCKS...they televise all major UFC fights, including Pay-Per-View...WOO-HOO! Sure, they have an extensive, typical pub menu and 18 beers on tap...but I'll be honest and admit that the reason to come here is to watch UFC and eating is just a bonus!

Cafe Delle Stelle - Walnut Creek, CA

Caffe Delle Stelle
1532 N. Main St.
Walnut Creek, CA 94596
(925) 943-2393

Caffe Delle Stelle gave me a wonderful first impression...the Main Street location in downtown Walnut Creek, the pitcher of sparkling water with a slice of orange that was left at the table and the bread with the tomato dipping sauce...yum!

However, the Gnocchi con Pollo AND the Sogliola ai Caperi (Filet of Sole with Capers) were both AWFUL. The gnocchi was chewy and the chicken breast was well on its way to being chicken jerky. The filet of sole was so rubbery, you needed a knife to cut it...you couldn't cut it with a fork!

Service went downhill right after they brought out our entrees. We ordered a white chocolate gelato to share for dessert, as they were out of regular chocolate gelato...and it turned out to be vanilla! No one ever came back, so we ate a little bit and left the rest...I don't even think it was real gelato because it was terrible (and how can real gelato EVER be terrible?) We sat waiting for our bill for about 15 minutes and we finally had to go get someone's attention...by that time, we were relieved to walk out of Caffe Delle Stelle and never come back. Ugh.

The San Franciscan - Walnut Creek, CA

The San Franciscan
1525 N. Main Street
Walnut Creek, CA 94596

I expected more from The San Franciscan, with its great location, ambiance and food presentation...but it lacked execution in what was called their "signature" dishes by our server. We ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna and the Seared Asian Scallops. The best thing about both meals was actually the green beans! The jasmine rice was overcooked and flavorless, the ahi was bland and overpeppered and the sesame-ginger sauce that came with the scallops was watery.

Their Rockslide Brownie was the highlight of our meal...the brownie was served warm with just a little caramel drizzled over the top, the vanilla bean gelato was a perfect accompaniment and so were the fresh raspberries. This dessert was spectacular!

I couldn't quite give them 3 stars because they are overpriced for the quality of food they serve, but their green beans, dessert and service were excellent.
