Pasta Primavera Cafe turned out to be a great choice for dinner after an afternoon of wine tasting! DH had their "Mixed Seafood" entree, consisting of shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in a zesty marinara sauce over fettucine. My choice of the evening was one of their specialties, the "Veal Piccata" over bowtie pasta tossed in garlicky butter sauce with capers and red onions.
The basket of sourdough bread was warm, fresh and perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The house salad that comes with the meal left a LOT to be desired. Romaine lettuce, a pinch of shredded carrots, a couple of sliced cucumbers, topped with raw sliced red onions (which I quickly removed!) all tossed in the worst vinaigrette dressing I've ever had. Yuck. I didn't even finish it. Too bad they only offer either this salad (no choice of any other dressing but that one) or minestrone, which I've never cared for.
Using the Restaurant.com $25 gift certificate, Pasta Primavera Cafe deserves 4 stars. If we had to pay the full price, this was a 3 star dining experience. A couple of areas they could use improvement would be the service and the veal piccata presentation. We felt our server was rushing us from the time we sat down to the time we left and she didn't smile once. The food was delivered quickly, though. The veal piccata looked like it was served by a newbie home cook...just take a look at the pic below and decide for yourself!
